Title:
Kindergarten Teacher
Melissa Chan

Every child, at some point in his/her life, is asked the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I was fortunate enough to know at 12 years old that my answer was: a teacher. This decision was obvious because the people who made the greatest impact on me were my own teachers. On my path to my future career, I attended Millersville University, earning a degree in Education and Master's Degree from California State University, Long Beach. These programs helped me to hone my skills and find a love of the art of teaching. However, I came to realize my true love of teaching was not found in the college classroom. It is found by guiding children to grow as students and as positive members of their community. Most importantly, I want them to love coming to school every day with a smile. I couldn't imagine doing my job anywhere else but in the Los Altos School District.
